If a customer wishes to delete their account, they can submit a deletion request to the administrator of your Shopify Store. Important considerations need to be taken in consideration when approving a customer account deletion.
When a customer submits a data erasure request but has placed an order within the last 180 days, the request will remain pending for 180 days from their most recent order. This delay allows time to process any potential chargebacks.
During this period, you'll see a notification showing the exact date when the customer’s personal data will be erased. Shopify will automatically complete the erasure on that date, no further action is needed.
If you need to bypass this waiting period and erase the data sooner, contact Shopify Support for assistance. Once all orders for the client are processed and the request is approved, the account and any associated data will be permanently deleted.
